The problem

The “first step” in cleaning fuel and air intake systems is cleaning the throttle body. When air intake components become dirty and deposits accumulate, intake air does not flow and mix properly with fuel, causing rough idle, stalling, tip-in hesitation, poor fuel economy and increased emissions.

Directions

1. Attach plastic extension tube to can nozzle.
2. Bring engine to normal operating temperature, and stop engine.
3. Access throttle body and plate by removing intake boot and duct assembly.
4. With engine off, hold throttle at full open position.
5. Wet inside of throttle body and plate with cleaner, let soak for 30 seconds.
6. Scrub deposits from surfaces with small nylon bottle brush or toothbrush.
7. Wet again and wipe clean with shop rag.
8. Repeat if necessary.
9. Reattach intake boot, start engine to purge cleaner and check for air leaks.
